Secreted Particle Information Transfer (SPIT) – A Novel Platform for Treatment of Genetic Diseases

Secreted Particle Information Transfer (SPIT)

Dr. Agnieszka Czechowicz and Dr. Hiro Nakauchi at Stanford University seek to develop a gene-editing platform that enables correction of many cells across various tissues with the initial goal to apply this to the curative treatment of Fanconi anemia (FA) disease.

The Czechowicz and Nakauchi Labs are collaboratively developing innovative technologies that can “re-write” the genes of cells and tissues. Their focus is on developing the Secreted Particle Information Transfer (SPIT) platform which uses cells as factories to produce genetic delivery agents. This platform aims to advance our understanding of how cells can be modified to repair complex tissues. Initially, their efforts will target curing Fanconi anemia, but their long-term vision is to apply these methods to treat a wide range of diseases.
