Re-Wiring Development Programs to Fight Cancer

Stanford Cell rewire study

Dr. Onn Brandman at Stanford Medical seeks to understand genes and the development process.  He looks at ways to re-wire cancer cells to render them harmless.

The Brandman Lab is developing new technologies to uncover the genetic “wiring” of cells and tissues. These approaches will enable advances at multiple levels, from understanding how cells repair themselves to how a single cell develops into complex tissue. By applying new biological and computational techniques, the Brandman Lab will seek to develop a full picture of development in cells and organoids. The lab has long term goals of understanding how cancer hijacks normal developmental processes to become “immortal,” and thus how they may be “rewired” to treat disease.
